Tucson, AZ -
Tucson Audubon Society
is the community’s leader in conservation since 1949. Tucson Audubon’s
Birdathon 2006 goal was $28,000. All funds from the Birdathon go to
support local education, conservation and recreation programs. Tucson
Audubon Society applauds Harris Environmental Group, Inc. (Harris
Environmental) for their continued financial support and conservation
stewardship. Harris Environmental has contributed to this fundraiser for
the past three years and it has proven to be a successful event for the
Tucson Audubon Society and Harris Environmental employees. Company
President, Dr. Lisa Harris, believes that the success of any company
relies on its employees and teamwork. With this in mind, she involves
the company in fundraising events that are important to her employees.
This fundraising event allows the company to contribute to an important
organization while promoting teamwork and relationship building within
the firm. Dr. Harris divides the office into two teams that strive to
find the greatest number of species in a given period at specific
locations. Fundraising is accomplished by soliciting sponsors who will
make a donation based on the number of species observed. The company
provides the time, resources, and even a picnic brunch for each of the
birding teams. Her staff enjoys the opportunity to relax and enjoy what
they like to do most which is spending time outside in the natural
environment.
This year, Harris
Environmental's goal was to reach $4,000 in donations. The company far
exceed that goal by raising $5,826, which was the highest amount of
funds raised for this year's event.
